Pelletier, Allard, and Colleagues Publish Insights on the Unequal Availability of Childcare

CSDE Affiliates Elizabeth Pelletier (U.S. Census Bureau) and Scott Allard (Evans School) recently collaborated on a publication in Early Childhood Research Quarterly entitled “The spatial inequality of early care and education centers” that highlights spatial variation in the provision of various forms of childcare across the US. Using a national database with multiple measures of participation and availability of childcare resources, the article shows how the provision of public and private childcare options varies in urban and rural settings, and in counties with different levels of poverty.
